Chia Siang Pio's Profile
Chia Siang Pio, a Public Service Commission scholar, graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Second Upper Honours Degree in History. Her other major was English Language. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education.
After a short teaching stint, she worked in the Ministry of Defence's Director (Policy) Office for seven years; writing policy papers, speeches and talking points for Minister and Permanent Secretary (Defence). She had also served as the key policy advisor to the Minister on overseas trips and was selected to represent MINDEF in several conferences abroad. She was also formerly a Deputy Director in the Incentives and Finance Division of the Singapore Workforce Development Agency. Leading a team of forty managers and executives, she headed the administration of the Skills Development Fund. Her work included the formulation of funding and incentives policies as well as the evaluation of internal budget papers.
She has conducted countless writing courses, including in-house customised ones for public organisations such as Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Manpower, National Council of Social Service, Land Transport Authority, A*Star, Public Utilities Board, Maritime Port Authority, Singapore Police Force, Singapore Prison Service and Republic Polytechnic as well as government-related institutions such as NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, SingHealth Academy and National Healthcare Group Polyclinics.
