    Design thinking is a proven non-linear, iterative process that operational team leads could use to understand users, challenge assumptions, redefine problems and create innovative solutions to prototype and test. It is most useful to tackle ill-defined or unknown problems and involves five systematic phases in a Value Chain.

    Design Thinking starts with Oneself (ie ME) uses various prototyping methodologies and physical props to help participants to visualize the challenges and the solution and most importantly, to get a buy-in to ideas and/or solutions.
    Objective
    By the end of this activity based workshop, participants will be able to:
    • Articulate the concept and importance of design thinking
    • Explain the 5 stages of the design thinking process.
    • Apply design thinking methodologies to define a problem statement and generate ideas for a given problem statement.
    • Identify 2 different methods of applying design thinking in own organisation and apply the decision metrics to determine feasibility of design ideas and solutions.
    • Promote design thinking in your own organisation and articulate the importance and purpose of prototyping in the design thinking process

    Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test stages of Design Thinking
    • How to empathise and define the problem statement

    Identify pain points and prototyping.
    • Practise SCAMPER, Creative Matrix, and Analogy Concepts to brainstorm ideas
    • Use sketches and physical props to showcase your prototypes
    • Continue to test and reiterate your prototypes

    Use Design Thinking Concepts in your daily work.
    • Apply Designing Thinking mindset to your work problems
    • Look at the problems and issues from the customer’s perspective

    Mr. Syed:An Industrial Organizational Psychologist, Coach, Mentor and an Expert in Supply Chain Logistics Management (SCLM) 

    SM Syed Ali is actively involved in providing training and consultancy services for a wide array of institutions, both domestically and internationally. These institutions include renowned names like WSG-Supply Chain Logistics Academy (SCALA), SMU Academy, WSG-Supply Chain Asia, PSB Academy, London School of Business & Finance, IMSC, TMC, and NTUCLHUB. His work spans across diverse programs, encompassing Supply Chain Logistics Management (SCLM) which focussed on key areas of Transport & Warehouse Management, Inventory Management, Procurement, Purchasing, Vendor Management, Import and Export Management (IMPEX). The other areas of his expertise are, LEAN Six Sigma, Art of Negotiation, Design Thinking, Project Management, Effective Communication, Situational Leadership, 7 Habits of Effective People, Kaizen & Continuous and Productive Improvements Tools and Methodologies.

    Syed has held prominent management roles within three multinational manufacturing companies, where he worked extensively across Asia, Europe, and the USA, dedicating approximately 30 years to various global supply chain logistics programs and projects.

    Syed's educational background includes a Master of Science Degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology/HRM from the City University of New York (USA), a Bachelor's Degree in SCM Logistics from Curtin University, Australia, and a Diploma in Project Management from Cambridge University. He holds professional qualifications such as the Certified Professional Logistician accreditation from the Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics (UK), and the Advanced Certified in Training & Assessment (ACTA) certification from the Singapore Work Development Authority. Additionally, he possesses a Coaching Certificate from TUV SUD/PSB Singapore.

    Beyond his professional pursuits, Syed actively contributes to the community by serving as a mentor for the Yellow Ribbon Project and specializes in CPR as a member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). His dedication to community engagement was recognized with the 20 Years Appreciation Award from the Singapore Prime Minister's Office, presented by his Member of Parliament in August 2019. Syed also plays a significant role as a SPRINGS and SCALA Skills Future Trainer and Mentor for the ongoing WSG-Singapore Government initiated Professional Conversion Programs (PCP). He is additionally a WSG Trained Career Adviser Practitioner (CAP), further demonstrating his commitment to professional development and community service.

    He had received the 20 years Appreciation Award from our Singapore Prime Minister Office (PMO) through his Member of Parliament in August 2019.
